Home to the biennial Farnborough International Airshow, where better to delve into the history and science of aviation, than at the Aerospace Museum (which is open on the weekends) to learn more about the form of travel that has probably redefined the way we live, work and play more than any other.
For more a earthly historical journey, head to Farnborough Abbey where Napoleon III and his wife are buried. A working monastery, it is home to Benedictine Monks who support themselves through publishing, bookbinding and printing – of which you can browse and purchase works at the Abbey Store.

There are currently two main departure points for Hampshire, from Alton & Dogmersfield, so the best place to depart from for a balloon ride near Farnborough is from Dogmersfield as it is much closer. Always make sure that you check your voucher details before buying though, and again when you book in, for the latest launch site details, as they can change depending on weather and site suitability. The good news is, that your voucher is valid for all launch locations in the South East and you can leave your car at the launch site as this is where your ballooning experience will also finish.
Your unforgettable balloon ride will start with a full safety briefing, after which you you can help the team with the the inflating of the balloon if you wish – or kick back, soak up the atmosphere and let others do the hard work. The Flight
DURING YOUR FARNBOROUGH BALLOON RIDE
As you drift gently over the Hampshire countryside near Farnborough, there will be ample opportunity to take photographs from this unique vantage point. During your flight you are free to discuss how the balloon works with the pilot, who will also be pointing out the many points of interest that drift below you or rest gently on the horizon.

Landing
