BALLOON FLIGHT INFORMATION
Whether you are staying at the Whoop Hall Hotel just outside of Kirkby Lonsdale or perhaps you are just looking for things to do in the area, let the patchwork quilt of the gorgeous countryside unfold before you, on your hot air balloon ride adventure! Kirkby Lonsdale is a pretty little market town which flanks the three counties of Cumbria, Lancashire and North Yorkshire, so depending on the winds on the day you might find yourself floating just through one county, but from your peaceful perch in the sky, you should be able to see and compare all three which makes this particular balloon flight extra special!
With the breeze as your guide, rise up over the Whoop Hall grounds and let yourself be surprised at whatever might drift into view. One thing is for sure though, the iconic River Lune will be visible and if you follow it south with your eyes it will lead you to Lancaster and Lancaster Castle or northward and just off to the west from it, you might be able to spy Killington Lake a man made reservoir built in the 1800s to server the Lancaster Canal. Another thing that is certain is that with 360 degree vantage point, you’ll have views that reach far into the distance and far into the memory.
Take some time, pre or post, balloon flight to relax and enjoy some of the local attractions. There are quite a lot of things to see and do around and near Whoop Hall despite it being in a relatively rural area.
Very close by is the small and quaint market town of Kirkby Lonsdale which is a picturesque starting point for heading out to explore your choice of either the Yorkshire Dales, the Forest of Bowland (an area of outstanding beauty and once referred to as the ‘Switzerland of England’) or even the Lake District.
Quite close to home you also have things like the Devil’s Bridge, a magnificent three arched structure thought to date back as far as the 12th or 13th centuries, which spans the River Lune. Or further afield (just under 20 miles away) you have the vibrant and quirky city of Lancaster, home to the simply captivating, historical Lancaster Castle!
