Should you head westward on the breeze, you will float gently in the direction if Belvoir Castle, sat proudly up on a hill, this magnificent building is home to the Duke of Rutland. Once your balloon flight over Grantham has come to an end, why not head into this interesting market town, with its rich history. Be sure to see St Wulfrum’s Church and its soaring 282ft spire that dominates the town. Stroll to Grantham’s King School that boasts Sit Isaac Newton and Margaret Thatcher as former pupils. For a fuller inspection of the town’s impressive history, make your way to the Grantham Museum on St Peter’s Hill.
Nearby you’ll find Belvoir Castle – that you might have seen from the balloon basket – and somewhere that is definitely worth a visit. Home to the Duke of Rutland, this location has been in the family since 1067, with the current fine example of Regency architecture dating from the 19thcentury and being the fourth castle to call it home.
Stoke Rochford Hall itself is a handsome affair and well worth spending some time at as well. Enjoy a delicious meal or glass of wine, or really make an experience of it and stay the night here!
